Staten Island's Italian Heritage Revealed
New book features photographs of Staten Island's Italian history
Staten Island is home to the largest percentage of Italian Americans in any congressional district in the country. From the first wave of immigration in the late 19th cenury, Italian Americans are now evident in every avocation and in each corner of Staten island society, with achievers in education, business, government, medicine and sports and entertainment.
In nearly 200 vintage photographs, local author Andrew Paul Mele takes readers on a nostalgic journey down memory lane.
Mele hopes the book will "rekindle memories for older residents and create an awareness of a marvelous heritage for youthful Italian-Americans."

- chronicles the traditons, culture and heritage of Italian Americans on Staten Island
